In celebration of Father’s Day we wanted to praise all those daddy’s out there who will do almost anything to make their little ones smile, even if it means dressing up as their favourite Disney character in public!

History of Father’s Day

Father’s Day is celebrated worldwide to acknowledge the contribution fathers and father figures make to the lives of their children.  The day, mainly held on the third Sunday in June, celebrates fatherhood and male parenting.

It was founded in Spokane, Washington at the YMCA in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd and its first celebration was on the 19^th June 1910.  Her father, William Jackson Smart, was a single parent who raised 6 children and Sorona wanted to do something special for him.

Since then it has grown to be an event shared by families around the world and a day to say thanks to all those wonderful dads out there!
